![]() I used Capture One with some success years ago, but found it too expensive to keep upgrading. Fuji and Sony, who used to be much smaller presence, have offered free versions of Capture One for years, alert to Adobe's bias towards the larger market share bodies. Many bloggers who use non-Canikony cameras (like Robin Whalley) appreciate Iridient's devotion to ALL cameras, not just the biggest brands, and the superior results for Fuji X-trans and Four-thirds in particular. It, like ACR, allows you to use camera profiles from ColorChecker Passport to optimize color. It provides conversions markedly cleaner than ACR. It does not matter much what software you use for Web use but when it comes to printing there is no better solution than using the camera's own proprietary editor. You have given me some good ideas to explore as I consider moving from Canon to Olympus. I have always used either Rawtherapee or Darktable with great results for all my Olympus raw files. Probably in part because I use Adobe all day for work. I did use Capture One for a bit, and I actually like the output better but I didn't get along with the interface so I ended up going back to Adobe. I think most people use some version of Adobe Camera Raw. Slow moving conversion, but for me, worth the extra effort. Compared to Adobe Camera Raw, I get a cleaner conversion with less artifacts and a nice fat 58mb, 16bit Tiff file which I than import to Lightroom for all my adjustments. I use the Olympus Workspace software (free download if you own an Olympus camera) to convert all my Raw files. And I don't much care about increased cloud storage. Extra work but I like how photoshop is bundled in the price. Have to convert first before they open up. Current CC LR versions support Olympus raw files directly. Why do you convert to DNG and then edit in LR? Extra work, unless you are using an old legacy version of LR. Olympus JPEG straight out of the camera are perfectly viable option too. Then import DNG in Lightroom, edit, export to JPEG. I use Adobe DNG converter first to convert ORF files into DNG. Am wondering what is the most widely used software for RAW to JPG conversion when shooting with an Olympus M43 body?
